From the Stage to Service: Alum Paxton Smith (Class of ’25) Recognized with Civilian Medal of Valor

Our alumni community feels immense pride today. The Loudoun Chamber of Commerce recently hosted its 2026 Valor Awards. This event honors first responders and citizens who show extraordinary courage. Paxton Smith (Class of ’25) stood among this year’s distinguished honorees. He accepted the prestigious Civilian Medal of Valor for his heroic actions.

A Heroic Act in Loudoun County

The Loudoun Chamber gives this medal to people who show exceptional courage. These heroes disregard their own safety to help others in danger. The following account describes the events that led to Paxton receiving this high honor:

“Smith heard a loud crash from Hurley Lane near Paeonian Springs and went to investigate, finding a vehicle had struck a tree. Smith ran back to his house to get his phone and called 911. He then rode his electric scooter through half a mile of wooded terrain to return to the scene and help. He found the driver trapped inside a smoking vehicle and with the help of two other strangers, pulled the injured driver from the vehicle just moments before it was overtaken by flames. Although the driver later succumbed to his injuries, Smith’s actions ensured the victim was rescued from the vehicle and transported for care.”

These awards recognize the “meritorious acts” that make Leesburg safer. They strengthen the spirit of our Loudoun County community.

A Legacy of Faith and Service

Paxton was mentored during his years at Providence Academy. His willingness to help during a crisis comes as no surprise. As a member of the Class of ’25, Paxton was a cornerstone of our community. He performed with the Band and led our Worship Ministry as a pianist.

At our Christian school in Leesburg, we equip students for more than just academics. We instill the faith necessary to serve in the real world. Paxton put these values into action on a grand scale. This provides the greatest reward our faculty could ever receive. We feel grateful when students apply their lessons to help their neighbors.

Join Us in Congratulating Paxton

We invite our entire school family to congratulate Paxton on this honor. He exemplifies what it means to be a Servant Leader. Leesburg and Loudoun County flourishes because of individuals who prioritize others above themselves.

Our faculty remembers his musical talents and his steadfast leadership. This recognition highlights the vital role young people play in our county. We hope Paxton’s story inspires our current students to be lights in the darkness.

We are incredibly proud of the man Paxton has become. He truly represents our mission to impact the world for Christ.
