Praising God in Song and Word
This week we began praising and worshipping the Lord in song and in word. We were thrilled to gather as a community for our first Providence Academy Chapel service of the year as a school body.
Our students actively stepped into servant leadership roles throughout the service. For example, Zoe read the passage for our gathering. Additionally, Josiah prayed over our student body and staff. Fionnlagh, Ali, and Ayla Joy also shared their wonderful gifts of singing to help lead us in worship. Meanwhile, Zander ensured that all slides were accurate and turned at the exact right time.
Our Head of School, Janet M. Hale, opened the service with warm encouragement. Specifically, she urged everyone to lean on God and trust Him as our annual verse teaches.
Unpacking Proverbs 3:5-6
Pastor Ed walked us through this year’s Annual Bible Verse, which is Proverbs 3:5-6. He explained that Proverbs is a book of wisdom that teaches us how to live in God’s world. To illustrate verse 5, he shared a story about walking through a forest with a father. Even when the path looks hard, a child trusts the father’s guidance. Similarly, trusting God with all our heart means trusting Him with the center of who we are.
Furthermore, Pastor Ed reminded us not to lean on our own limited understanding. Because God sees the past, present, and future, He holds the full picture. Consequently, when we submit to Him in all our ways, He will make our paths straight.
Exploring “The People of the Bible”
This year, our Chapel messages will follow the theme “The People of the Bible”. Throughout the series, we will explore many known and lesser-known biblical figures. We will learn from both their positive examples and their mistakes. Ultimately, each weekly topic will tie directly into our Annual Bible Verse.
