Providence Academy Music Program: Sight Singing and Joyful Games
Learning and Playing in Third Grade Music
Our third grade students have been growing in their musical abilities this week. Through our Providence Academy music program, students build confidence while discovering new musical skills. Most importantly, children develop their vocal gifts while learning how to read music with joy.
Specifically, our third graders practiced exciting sight singing techniques during class. Sight singing helps students read musical notes and sing melodies directly from the page. Afterward, the class applied their new skills by playing a fun game called “Round the Do Bop.” Consequently, learning music theory became an engaging and memorable experience for everyone.
Connecting Music to Proverbs 3:5-6
Learning new skills like sight singing requires focus and a willingness to try new things. For example, students learn to step out in faith when reading new notes. In the same way, our school community continually points students back to our Annual Bible Verse, Proverbs 3:5-6.
As children learn to trust in the Lord with all their hearts, they freely share their God-given gifts. Furthermore, we weave this spiritual foundation into every lesson and subject across campus.
Growing Together in Harmony
Games like “Round the Do Bop” encourage teamwork, joyful laughter, and active learning. Ultimately, our Providence Academy music program equips students to make a joyful noise to our Heavenly Father. We are so proud of our third graders and look forward to more musical fun this year!
